Spens 81

As part of a multi-year research project focused on the Spens building (Sports and Business Centre “Vojvodina”), a documentary film about the building is planned, aimed at presenting it as a “house” for various users. As an introduction to this project, a documentary film titled “Spens 81” has been created as a short triptych based on conversations with the architects responsible for its inception. During the visit of the original project’s architects to Novi Sad in June 2022 (Architects of Spens), interviews were recorded with four architects whose careers began with this project. Their reunion after four decades in a building that solidified their views on architecture brings forth original stories of personal understanding of the design and creation processes of the latest megastructure by Professor Janković, which he realized together with Professor Bulić at the Institute for Architecture and Urbanism in Sarajevo. Their testimonies complement our research on the facility and convey the atmosphere of enthusiasm and optimism from the late 1970s. The film has been shown at several events related to science and cultural space.
