Architectural Design of Pavillion Structures – Concepts, Programmes and Functions

Excerpt from the Jury’s Explanation for the Ranko Radović 2019 Award:

“…The book Architectural Design of Pavillion Structures – Concepts, Programmes and Functions, whose third edition is currently in preparation, is an authored work by professors of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Technical Sciences – Miljana Zeković, Dragana Konstantinović, and Višnja Žugić. It is intended primarily for architecture students, but also for researchers and professionals who seek to keep alive the ever-inspiring relationship between architectural theory and practice in their work.
Without claiming to clarify all the possibilities and potentials of contemporary global practice, the book offers a specific perspective on the fundamental aspects of understanding the design process – which is the very core of architectural education.
A particular value of this edition lies in the fact that it represents a marginalized, yet in our view essential, type of publication – a textbook for architecture students. Exceptionally rare in our context, especially in the Serbian language, and even more rarely focused on, it carries a phenomenological discourse on the design process, which is crucial for the development of the design thinking of young future professionals.”

Authors:
The authors of the book – Miljana Zeković, Dragana Konstantinović, and Višnja Žugić – long-time faculty members at the Department of Architecture and Urbanism, Faculty of Technical Sciences, were all students of Professor Ranko Radović (1935–2005). Although they have developed their professional interests in different directions, they are united as a team in the field of architectural education, with a shared commitment to continuous progress in this domain, as well as the ongoing positive promotion of the architecture school in Novi Sad.
