Design in Architecture – Introduction
The course Design in Architecture – Introduction is dedicated to familiarizing students with the fundamental principles and methods of articulating architectural space. This is achieved through the exploration of its structure, individual elements, and their interrelationships. Understanding the logic of architectural form is developed by examining the relationship between the character of space and the elements that define it. The first group focuses on the principles of RHYTHM and VOLUME, explored through the creation of abstract spatial compositions in the form of physical models, each related to a specific theme. The second group delves into the principle of VARIATION and the process of IMAGE/SOUND EMBODIMENT, through the creation of spatial models, incorporating photography as a tool for representing space. The final task focuses on SPATIAL SITUATION and SPATIAL CONSTRUCT, emphasizing the use of digital and/or analog collages to creatively research and articulate space. The knowledge and skills gained through this course lay the foundation for further study in architectural design.

Introduction to Architectural Design
The course Introduction to Architectural Design is dedicated to mastering the design process by understanding its various phases and exploring significant design topics and their complex interrelationships. The tasks in the exercises are designed to systematically develop the knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary for creating a personal design methodology, which begins to take shape at this level of study.
The task of ICON involves analyzing, understanding, and presenting the spatial, formal, and programmatic concepts of architectural icons from the 20th and 21st centuries. Students are expected to thoroughly analyze and present the conceptual foundations of a selected architectural work.
In the STRUCTURE task, students explore the challenges of materializing a building and the artistic potential of architectural form by developing a conceptual design for a pavilion at one of the assigned locations.
The final exercise, PAVILION, serves as a synthesis of knowledge about the design process, culminating in the creation of a contextually grounded project for a simple pavilion structure. Emphasis is placed on exploring the structural qualities of architectural designs.
