MULTIMEDIAL EXHIBITION NOVI SAD – MODERN CITY
Novi Sad – A Modern City is a multimedia architectural exhibition that highlights the urban development of Novi Sad in the second half of the 20th century, a period marked by intensive industrialization and profound social and spatial transformations. Through archival materials, video works, and previously unseen footage documenting the construction of the city, the exhibition presents six thematic narratives that map the key processes behind the emergence of contemporary Novi Sad — from major infrastructural interventions and new housing developments to spaces of work, leisure, and collective life.
Rather than approaching the city’s modernization through nostalgia or idealization, the exhibition offers a critical and analytical perspective on the urban planning decisions that continue to shape everyday life. The project aims to reconnect overlooked modernist narratives into a coherent understanding of the city’s spatial development and to open space for reflection on its future planning directions.
The project is the result of a long-term research process and is realized within the Seobe program stream, organized by Baza – Platform for Spatial Practices, in collaboration with the Efemera Collective and the Association of Architects of Novi Sad.
The project was awarded the Grand Prix at the 23rd International Architecture Salon in Novi Sad in 2022.
