Student Architectural Photography Competition – “Maja Momirov” Award

BAZA – Spatial Praxis Platform, with the support of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, announces the Student Architectural Photography Competition – the “Maja Momirov” Award.

The competition has been established in honor of the professional work of Maja Momirov, whose practice simultaneously encompassed architecture, photography, and pedagogical work at the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning in Novi Sad. Maja’s work in photography represents a valuable legacy within BAZA – Spatial Praxis Platform, an organization she co-founded. This competition is especially directed toward students, with the intention of permanently preserving the memory of Maja and her work.

Competition Theme: Dreams of Movement

This year’s theme positions space as the main protagonist of the image. Space—understood in the broadest sense as architecture, the built environment, landscape, urban space, interior, or spatial atmosphere—is not treated as a background, but as an active presence that shapes experience.

The call encourages students to explore how space carries, suggests, frames, or remembers movement. We encourage photographic interpretations that go beyond documenting buildings as static objects and instead reveal dynamic relationships between bodies, structures, landscapes, light, and time.

Movement may be literal or implied: flows, rhythms, traces, transformations, or tensions embedded within spatial conditions. The theme encompasses architecture in its broadest meaning, raising the question of how space directs, resists, choreographs, or dreams movement.

Who Can Apply?
The competition is open to students from all active universities in Serbia and the region (Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and North Macedonia).

Participation is free of charge.
